Everywhere you go in Japan there is something worth seeing.  No matter how small the town is, there will always be a sight, a restaurant, an onsen, or a festival that makes that town special.  The problem is, up until now there has not been anything to showcase the small town sights.  Nothing to show how fantastic “The Inaka” is. “The Inaka” provides an opportunity to show everyone what your town has to offer.  This will prove invaluable to inaka travelers.  If you want to be a part of The Inaka Project, submit a Sight, Restaurant, Onsen, or a Festival from your town in the Photo Uploader to the right.

“The Inaka” is focused on providing a picture oriented travel site for those of us living in Japan.

This will be a website where you can look up sights, restaurants, onsen, and festivals specific to the town you are going to, rather than finding the prefecture’s highlights.

Up until now, most Japanese travel sites have either been largely text based with maybe one photo, or just gave the highlights of that prefecture.  That just isn’t enough.  Japan’s countryside is what makes this country special.  Each town has dozens of things to see and do that make it worth a visit.

So please join us in our effort to make Japan’s most useful and picture oriented travel site.

Think back to when you first came to Japan, what held you back from exploring your prefecture?  For most of us it was the unknown.  Traveling in Japan is expensive, and unless we know what we are going to go see, most likely we are not going to go. Think about how much more you would have seen if you had some sort of guide.  Well we can be that guide for future generations of ALTs.

So do it for the current and future ALTs, let’s leave a helpful guide for everyone to come.
