The Inaka Goa
Welcome to The Inaka Goa – a luxury wildlife resort tucked deep within the lush Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary in South Goa. Formerly known as The Earthen Nest, our reimagined retreat blends rustic charm with modern comforts, offering an immersive escape into nature without compromising on elegance.

“Inaka” (田舎) is a Japanese word meaning “countryside” or “rural place.” Composed of the kanji ç”° (ta) for “rice field” and 舎 (sha) for “dwelling,” it evokes serene landscapes, simple living, and a deep connection to nature. At The Inaka, we embrace this spirit—offering a tranquil refuge surrounded by dense forest, serene rivers, and abundant wildlife.

Designed for those seeking peace, adventure, and reconnection, The Inaka features beautifully crafted mud cottages and a unique treehouse stay, each promising comfort, privacy, and breathtaking views.

Just 25 minutes from Palolem Beach, The Inaka offers easy access to South Goa’s pristine coastline while remaining a peaceful haven in the wild. Take a guided nature walk, swim in the river, visit nearby farms—or simply lounge by the pool with birdsong as your soundtrack.

Our in-house restaurant serves Indian, seafood, and Continental cuisine using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. With vegetarian, vegan, and dairy-free options, every meal—from buffet breakfasts to bonfire barbecues—is set against the sounds and stillness of the surrounding forest.

Perfect for romantic getaways, nature lovers, and slow living enthusiasts, The Inaka invites you to pause, breathe, and experience luxury in the wild.

Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary
Tucked away in South Goa’s Canacona region near the Goa–Karnataka border, Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary is a haven for nature lovers, birdwatchers, and curious explorers. Established in 1968, it spans over 86 sq. km of dense, moist deciduous forest, interspersed with semi-evergreen patches and towering trees that rise over 30 meters high—forming a cool, shaded canopy that barely lets sunlight touch the forest floor.

The sanctuary teems with rich biodiversity. Visitors can look out for flying squirrels, slender loris, Indian pangolins, mouse deer, four-horned antelopes, Malabar pit vipers, hump-nosed pit vipers, white-bellied woodpeckers, Malabar trogons, velvet-fronted nuthatches, heart-spotted woodpeckers, speckled piculets, Malayan bitterns, draco or flying lizards, golden-back gliding snakes, and Malabar tree toads.

The more observant may even be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the forest’s shyest residents—gazelles, sloth bears, porcupines, panthers, and hyenas. These elusive creatures tend to remain deep within the densest thickets of underbrush, making sightings rare but unforgettable.

Observation decks perched high in the trees offer stunning views of watering holes, where animals often gather at dawn and dusk. Cotigao is also home to Goa’s indigenous Velip and Kunbil tribes, offering a glimpse into traditional forest-based living. Eight scenic hiking trails and a Nature Interpretation Centre further enrich the experience.

Just a short drive from Patnem or Palolem beaches, the sanctuary offers the perfect balance of adventure and serenity for those looking beyond Goa’s golden coastline.
